“We are optimistic about announcing the achievement of a mutually agreeable commitment, in line with the proposal presented by the Panamanian government on January 13,” stated Minera Panama in a statement released earlier tonight. In the statement, the company emphasized that it understands the general terms put forward by the Panamanian government and considers an annual minimum contribution of 375 million balboas from the Cobre Panama mine as reasonable.
The organization highlighted that it accepts the proposal from the national government and requests the necessary safeguards to ensure the continuity of operations during the project’s duration. Additionally, they expressed optimism that the announcement of a mutually agreeable commitment will be made in accordance with the proposal received from the Panamanian government on January 13.
On another note, the Presidency of the Republic informed that President Laurentino Cortizo will address the nation tomorrow, January 18, to discuss this matter.
