Now that the 2023 NFL regular season is over, the 18 teams that will not be participating in the playoffs can get down to the business of planning their offseason moves in order to improve.

A number of teams have head coaching openings, and there will be some intriguing candidates that will be sought after in the next few months.

A lot of the attention has been surrounding University of Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh, who is rumored to be interested in a return to the league, and New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick, who has been rumored to be on the hot seat.

But according to Jordan Schultz, Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn will also be a hot head coaching candidate, not only because of his acumen but also because of his leadership skills.

#Cowboys DC Dan Quinn’s name is heating up among league circles. He will be one of the most sought after HC candidates in this cycle.

Schultz even compared Quinn to DeMeco Ryans, the first-time head coach of the Houston Texans who has led his team to a 10-7 record and an AFC South title despite a very young roster and some key injuries.

Ryans had spent the previous two seasons as the San Francisco 49ers’ defensive coordinator, and he had lots of success in that role, as the 49ers reached the NFC Championship Game both years.

Quinn became Dallas’ defensive coordinator for the 2021 campaign after spending six years as the head coach of the Atlanta Falcons.

He guided the Falcons to Super Bowl LI, where they blew a 25-point lead and lost to Tom Brady’s Patriots.

This year, Quinn’s Cowboys ranked fifth in both points and total yards allowed, and at times, they have looked downright dominant on that side of the football.

With a 12-5 record, the Cowboys are considered by many as the team most capable of knocking off the favored Niners in the NFC playoffs.
