Workers come together under the banner of 4T

The evident cooperation and unity between the nation’s labor force and the Fourth Transformation were apparent during the XV Ordinary National Congress of CATEM. Claudia Sheinbaum, accompanied by Governor Mara Lezama Espinos and other members of Morena, received backing from the union.

As the national coordinator for the Defense of the Fourth Transformation, Sheinbaum stressed the interconnectedness of Mexico’s workers’ welfare, entrepreneurs, and the overall prosperity of the country. She expressed satisfaction in formally forging a significant alliance with the Autonomous Confederation of Workers and Employees of Mexico (CATEM).

In her speech, Sheinbaum highlighted the current positive state of the nation and emphasized the importance of avoiding regression to past practices. Underlining the ongoing efforts to enhance labor rights in the country, she emphasized the common goal of preventing a return to a past marked by corruption and privileges.

Following the inauguration of the first Labor Committees for the Defense of the Fourth Transformation within CATEM, Claudia Sheinbaum outlined the objective of ensuring workers’ access to a dignified life through collaboration with entrepreneurs. She referenced President Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s prioritization of the principle of “for the good of all, first the poor,” stating that Mexico’s progress depends on this commitment.

Sheinbaum pledged to continue advocating for workers’ salaries and benefits, reaffirming the commitment to work together for the well-being of both workers and the nation. Pedro Haces Barba, Senator of the Republic and Secretary General of CATEM, highlighted achievements resulting from the collaboration between representatives of the working class and the 4T government. These accomplishments include an increased minimum wage, additional vacation days, and the elimination of subcontracting, among others.
