US Senator Cruz: Iran’s Treatment of Jailed Iranian German Dissident ‘Barbaric’

In a recent statement, US Senator Ted Cruz has condemned Iran’s treatment of a jailed Iranian German dissident as ‘barbaric’ and called for immediate action to secure his release.

The dissident in question is Ahmadreza Djalali, a Swedish-based Iranian doctor who was arrested in Iran in 2016 while attending a conference. He was later convicted of espionage and sentenced to death, a charge that he vehemently denies.

Senator Cruz, who is a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, has been a vocal advocate for human rights and has been closely following Djalali’s case. In his statement, he expressed his deep concern over the deteriorating health of Djalali and the inhumane treatment he has been subjected to in Iranian prisons.

He stated, “The treatment of Ahmadreza Djalali by the Iranian regime is nothing short of barbaric. He has been denied access to proper medical care and has been subjected to physical and psychological torture. This is a clear violation of his basic human rights and cannot be tolerated.”

Senator Cruz also highlighted the fact that Djalali’s case is just one of many examples of Iran’s blatant disregard for human rights and its oppressive treatment of dissidents. He urged the international community to take a stand against such actions and hold Iran accountable for its actions.

He said, “The Iranian regime has a long history of silencing dissent and suppressing human rights. It is time for the international community to come together and demand the immediate release of Ahmadreza Djalali and all other political prisoners in Iran.”

The senator also called on the Iranian government to provide Djalali with proper medical care and allow him access to his family and legal representation. He emphasized that the Iranian regime must be held accountable for its actions and that the world cannot turn a blind eye to such blatant violations of human rights.

Senator Cruz’s statement has been met with widespread support from human rights organizations and activists. They have praised his efforts to bring attention to Djalali’s case and have called for immediate action to secure his release.

In addition to Senator Cruz, several other US lawmakers have also spoken out against Iran’s treatment of Djalali. They have urged the US government to use all diplomatic channels to pressure Iran to release him and to hold the regime accountable for its actions.

The case of Ahmadreza Djalali is a clear example of the Iranian regime’s oppressive tactics to silence dissent and suppress human rights. It is time for the international community to come together and demand justice for Djalali and all other political prisoners in Iran.

As Senator Cruz rightly stated, “The world is watching, and we cannot stand idly by while innocent individuals are subjected to such barbaric treatment.” It is our collective responsibility to speak out against such injustices and to stand in solidarity with those who are fighting for their basic human rights.

We call on the Iranian government to immediately release Ahmadreza Djalali and to put an end to its oppressive tactics. We also urge the international community to continue to put pressure on Iran to respect human rights and to hold the regime accountable for its actions.

In the words of Senator Cruz, “We must never forget that the fight for human rights is a fight for the soul of our world.” Let us stand together and demand justice for Ahmadreza Djalali and all those who are suffering under the oppressive regime in Iran.
