The process of connecting Buraco’s population, in the urban area of Mussulo, to the public electricity network is now complete

In line with the goals established by the Angolan government, as detailed in the National Development Plan (PDN), which seeks to guarantee electricity access for the entire population and improve social conditions, the “Consignment Ceremony of the Mussulo Rural Electrification Project” was held on Friday, March 22. The event was led by the Minister of Energy and Water, João Baptista Borges, with the participation of the Governor of Luanda Province, Manuel Homem, and other key officials from the energy sector, provincial government, and invited guests.

The contract was signed by the Chairman of ENDE’s Board of Directors, Hélder de Jesus Adão, and the main contractor of Marck Cables, Elisio Augusto. The project will include the neighborhoods of Buraco, Ponta da Barra, Pior, Cambaxi, Mussulo Centro, Macoco, Farol das Palmeirinhas, and Tapo.

The project aims to benefit approximately 21,600 families, involving the installation of 26 transformers, 3,600 residential connections, and public lighting at 950 locations, ultimately improving the quality of life for the residents.

It is important to highlight that the implementation of the electricity grid will create conditions for promoting tourism, developing the fishing industry, and reducing pollution through the use of clean energy sources.

In his address, the minister emphasized that Mussulo’s electrification would address several issues faced by its residents. He also mentioned that the President of the Republic had instructed that Mussulo should gain access to electricity and that the project would be completed by the end of this year.

Regarding water supply, João Baptista Borges assured that the issue would soon be resolved with the installation of a pipeline from Ramiros. The Governor of the Province, Manuel Homem, urged the population to safeguard these public assets and report acts of vandalism.

Following the ceremony, the officials visited the Mussulo market and medical center. To wrap up the activities in Mussulo, the Governor activated the switch to connect public lighting.
