“I never got to go to prom in high school. I was always working or didn’t have a date. So, I thought, why not create an adult prom event where everyone can come and relive their high school days?” Haddish shared with ET.
The 2025 Adult Prom event, which is set to take place in Los Angeles, will feature all the classic elements of a high school prom – from the music to the decorations to the prom king and queen. But Haddish is also adding her own unique touch to the event.
“We’re going to have a red carpet, just like the Oscars. And instead of a boring old punch bowl, we’ll have a spiked punch bar. And instead of a traditional photo booth, we’ll have a selfie station with all sorts of props and filters,” Haddish explained.
But the most exciting part of the event? The dress code. Haddish is encouraging attendees to come dressed in their best prom attire, whether it’s a classic tuxedo or a sparkly ball gown. And for those who never got the chance to attend prom, this is their chance to finally wear that dream dress or suit.
“I want people to feel like they’re back in high school, but with a twist. We’re all adults now, so we can have a little more fun and let loose,” Haddish said.
And Haddish isn’t just creating a fun event for adults, she’s also using the opportunity to give back to her community. A portion of the proceeds from the event will go towards funding prom experiences for underprivileged high school students.
“I know how important prom is for teenagers, and I want to give that same experience to those who may not have the means to attend. It’s all about spreading joy and creating memories,” Haddish shared.
