Chanel and Tribeca Join Forces with A-Listers for the 10th Annual Through Her Lens Program in New York City

New York City was buzzing with excitement as fashion powerhouse Chanel and acclaimed film festival, Tribeca, joined forces for the 10th annual Through Her Lens program. The highly anticipated event brought together some of the biggest names in the fashion and film industries, all in the name of empowering and supporting female filmmakers.

Through Her Lens, an initiative launched in 2015 by Chanel and Tribeca, aims to provide opportunities and resources for emerging female filmmakers. The program offers a series of workshops, mentorship, and a grant of $80,000 to help bring their projects to life. This year, the program received over 600 submissions from all over the world, showcasing the immense talent and potential of women in film.

The 10th annual Through Her Lens program kicked off with a star-studded luncheon at the iconic Tribeca Grill. A-listers such as Julianne Moore, Katie Holmes, and Maggie Gyllenhaal were among the guests in attendance, all showing their support for the cause. The event was a celebration of women in film, with the attendees dressed in their fashionable best, all donning Chanel ensembles.

The luncheon was followed by a series of workshops led by industry experts, including renowned directors, producers, and writers. The participants had the opportunity to learn from the best and gain insights into various aspects of filmmaking, from script development to post-production. The workshops also provided a platform for the filmmakers to network and form valuable connections with their peers and mentors.

One of the highlights of the program was the pitch event, where the eight selected finalists presented their projects to a panel of industry professionals. The finalists were given five minutes each to pitch their ideas, and the competition was fierce. The panel consisted of influential figures such as filmmaker and Tribeca co-founder Jane Rosenthal, Academy Award-winning producer Rachel Winter, and actress and Chanel ambassador Kristen Stewart.

After much deliberation, the panel announced the winner of the $80,000 grant – filmmaker Jordana Spiro. Her project, entitled “The Young Woman and the Sea,” tells the story of a young female lobster fisherman who defies societal expectations and fights to save her family’s business. Spiro, who was visibly emotional upon receiving the grant, expressed her gratitude towards Chanel and Tribeca for their support and belief in her project.

The program concluded with a gala dinner, where the participants, mentors, and guests came together to celebrate the success of the 10th annual Through Her Lens program. It was an evening filled with glamour, inspiration, and a shared passion for storytelling. The event was also a reminder of the importance of supporting and uplifting women in the male-dominated industries of fashion and film.

Through Her Lens has been a game-changer for women in the film industry, providing them with the necessary resources and support to bring their stories to the big screen. Over the years, the program has produced several critically acclaimed and award-winning films, including “The Body Remembers When the World Broke Open” and “The Tale.” This year’s selected projects show immense potential and promise, and we can’t wait to see them come to life.

The 10th annual Through Her Lens program was a testament to the power of collaboration and the impact it can have on empowering women. With the support of brands like Chanel and platforms like Tribeca, female filmmakers are breaking barriers and making their mark in the industry. As we move towards a more inclusive and equal future, initiatives like Through Her Lens serve as a beacon of hope and inspiration for women everywhere.
