Kiernan Shipka, the talented young actress known for her role as Sabrina Spellman in Netflix’s hit series “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina,” is no stranger to the spooky season. As Halloween approaches, Shipka is getting into the spirit by teaming up with Hatch for their chilling campaign trailer, “Goodnight, Phone.” In an exclusive interview with ET, Shipka shared her Halloween essentials and her excitement for the upcoming campaign.
Shipka, who has been a fan of Halloween since she was a child, revealed that her love for the holiday has only grown over the years. “I’ve always loved Halloween. It’s such a fun time to dress up and be someone else for a night,” she said. “But as I’ve gotten older, I’ve also come to appreciate the spooky and eerie side of Halloween.”
It’s no surprise then, that Shipka was thrilled to be a part of Hatch’s Halloween campaign. The campaign trailer, “Goodnight, Phone,” is a spine-chilling short film that follows Shipka as she discovers the terrifying truth behind her phone’s mysterious late-night calls. “I was immediately drawn to the concept of the campaign. It’s a perfect blend of horror and technology, which is something that I find really intriguing,” Shipka shared.
But what does Shipka consider her Halloween essentials? “First and foremost, a good costume is a must,” she said with a laugh. “I love getting creative and coming up with unique costumes. It’s always fun to see what other people come up with too.”
Apart from a killer costume, Shipka also emphasized the importance of having a spooky playlist. “Music sets the mood for any occasion, and Halloween is no exception. I love listening to creepy and eerie songs to get into the Halloween spirit,” she said.
But Shipka’s Halloween essentials don’t end there. “Candy is a must-have for any Halloween celebration. I have a major sweet tooth, so I always make sure to have a variety of treats on hand,” she shared. “And of course, a good horror movie marathon is essential. I love watching scary movies, especially during Halloween.”
As for her favorite Halloween memory, Shipka fondly recalled her childhood trick-or-treating adventures. “I remember one year, my friends and I dressed up as the Spice Girls and went trick-or-treating. We had so much fun and got so much candy,” she said with a smile.
Shipka’s love for Halloween and all things spooky is evident in her role as Sabrina Spellman. When asked about her experience playing the iconic character, Shipka said, “It’s been such an incredible journey. Sabrina is such a complex and powerful character, and I feel lucky to bring her to life on screen.”
With the fourth and final season of “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” set to premiere later this year, Shipka promises an epic finale for fans. “The final season is going to be intense and emotional. We’ve put our hearts and souls into this show, and I can’t wait for everyone to see how it all ends,” she shared.
As for her future projects, Shipka is excited to explore different roles and genres. “I’m always looking for new and challenging roles. I love pushing myself as an actress and trying new things,” she said.
But for now, Shipka is focused on celebrating Halloween and promoting the Hatch campaign. “I’m so excited for everyone to see ‘Goodnight, Phone.’ It’s a perfect way to get into the Halloween spirit,” she said.
