Trump denies knowledge of Project 2025, allies’ plan to transform US government

Miami – In a surprising turn of events, former President Donald Trump has publicly distanced himself from Project 2025, a massive government overhaul proposed by his close allies and former officials. This comes just days after the head of the think tank behind the project hinted at a potential second American Revolution.

In a post on his social media website, Trump stated, “I know nothing about Project 2025 and have no idea who is behind it. I disagree with some of their ideas and find them to be absolutely ridiculous. I wish them luck, but I am not involved in any way.”

The 922-page plan outlines a significant expansion of presidential power and proposes the firing of 50,000 government workers to be replaced with Trump loyalists. It has been gaining attention since President Joe Biden’s reelection campaign brought it to the forefront, especially following Biden’s widely criticized debate performance.

In contrast, Trump has already laid out his own plans to revamp the government if he wins a second term, including the largest deportation operation in US history and imposing tariffs on all imports. His campaign has also cautioned outside allies against speaking on his behalf and suggested that their efforts for a potential transition were unproductive.

One of the think tank’s members, Heritage Foundation President Kevin Roberts, made headlines when he stated on a podcast that Republicans are “in the process of taking this country back.” His words were quickly denounced by the Biden campaign, who accused Trump and his allies of “dreaming of a violent revolution to destroy the very idea of America.”

Some of the individuals involved in Project 2025 are former senior administration officials. The project’s director, Paul Dans, previously served as chief of staff at the US Office of Personnel Management under Trump. Another familiar name is Trump’s campaign spokesperson, Karoline Leavitt, who was featured in one of Project 2025’s videos.

John McEntee, a former director of the White House Presidential Personnel Office in the Trump administration, is also a senior advisor to the project. He recently told a conservative news site that Project 2025 will work closely with the Trump campaign after summer, when the president is expected to announce his transition team.

Trump’s remarks on Project 2025 come just before the Republican Party meets next week to begin drafting its party platform. The think tank itself is preparing a 180-day agenda for the next administration, which they plan to share privately rather than publicly in their book of priorities for a future Republican president. One of the key contributors to this agenda is Russ Vought, who is also a member of the Republican National Committee’s platform writing committee.

A spokesperson for Project 2025 has clarified that the think tank is not tied to any specific candidate or campaign. “We are a coalition of over 110 conservative groups advocating for policy and personnel recommendations for the next conservative president,” they stated. “Ultimately, it will be up to that president, who we believe will be President Trump, to decide which recommendations to implement.”

However, for the Democratic National Committee, Project 2025 and the Trump campaign are interconnected, forming a larger “MAGA operation.” A Biden campaign spokesperson accused the project’s staff members of leading the Republican policy platform.

“Project 2025 is an extreme policy and personnel playbook for Trump’s second term that should terrify the American people,” stated Ammar Moussa.

On Thursday, as the country celebrated Independence Day and Biden prepared for a television interview after his lackluster debate performance, the Trump campaign posted an image on social media from the TV drama “The Handmaid’s Tale.” The image depicted a group of women in the show’s signature red dresses and white hats standing in formation by a reflecting pool with a cross at the far end, where the Washington Monument would typically be. The show revolves around a totalitarian regime where women are stripped of their identities and forced to bear children for other couples.

“Fourth of July under Trump’s Project 2025,” the caption read.

As the political climate continues to heat up, it is clear that the upcoming election will have significant implications for the future of the country. With such controversial plans being proposed, it is crucial for voters to critically evaluate and educate themselves on the policies and agendas of both candidates. The American people have the power to shape the direction of their country, and the choices made in the upcoming election will determine the course of the nation for years to come.
