The NFL Players Association asked its players to rate their respective offensive, defensive, and special teams coordinators this year in an effort to understand which assistants are most respected in the coaching ranks.
The results of the list were interesting, as the Dallas Cowboys’ three coordinators – offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer, defensive coordinator Dan Quinn, and special teams coordinator John Fassel – all ranked in the top-five of their respective positions.
The Minnesota Vikings and Carolina Panthers also had two of their three coordinators break the top-five in their respective coaching positions.
The @NFLPA asked players to rate their offensive, defensive, and special teams coordinators.
Voting took place between August 28 and November 16 —and every player in the NFL had the opportunity to vote.

This poll has merit in that it can help team owners and other franchise decision-makers find coaches that players enjoy playing for – perhaps, even as a possible head coaching candidate down the line.
Several head coaching candidates for 2024 made these lists, too, such as Quinn, Los Angeles Chargers offensive coordinator Kellen Moore, Miami Dolphins offensive coordinator Frank Smith, Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores, and Los Angeles Rams defensive coordinator Raheem Morris.
Three members of these lists – Flores, Quinn, and Morris – have even already been head coaches in the NFL, while Fassel has been an interim head coach, and Panthers special teams coordinator Chris Tabor is the team’s current interim head coach.
So while this list doesn’t necessarily determine who is the best coach among their peers, the poll itself is important in the coaching evaluation process.
With the possibility of up to 10 head coaching jobs being open this summer, this list could prove valuable for team owners and other coaches looking to fill out their coaching staffs.
