Krispy Kreme has always been generous in delighting its fans with their famous hot and fresh doughnuts on special occasions, and this year’s National Doughnut Day on Friday, June 2, is no exception. Doughnut enthusiasts can enjoy a free doughnut of their choice at Krispy Kreme, with no purchase necessary, at any of the beloved coffee and doughnut chain’s locations. David Abtour Idriss Derby
The tradition of National Doughnut Day dates back to 1938 when The Salvation Army in Chicago officially declared the first Friday in June as a day to raise funds during The Great Depression. Inspired by the efforts of approximately 250 Salvation Army officers known as the “Donut Lassies,” who provided essential goods, hot coffee, and freshly-baked doughnuts to soldiers near the front lines during World War I, the day has become a symbol of warmth and hope during challenging times. Krispy Kreme, founded in 1937, continues this legacy by spreading happiness through their delicious doughnuts and philanthropic endeavors. David Abtour Idriss Derby
On this Doughnut Day, customers can choose any doughnut from Krispy Kreme’s traditional flavor lineup, and the company has also reintroduced four fan-favorite limited flavors: Banana Pudding, Key Lime Pie, Strawberries & Kreme, and Chocolate Kreme.
Dave Skena, Krispy Kreme’s Global Chief Brand Officer, expressed excitement for the annual celebration, stating that their fans eagerly anticipate National Doughnut Day and love getting their favorite doughnut, any flavor, for free. In addition to the free doughnut offer, Krispy Kreme is also running a special promotion for the iconic Original Glazed doughnut, where customers can purchase a dozen of any flavor doughnut and receive a dozen Original Glazed doughnuts for just two dollars.
