Discover the reasons why prolonging your journey could lead to cost savings and have a positive impact on the place you’re visiting

Here’s why opting for an extended stay might lead to a more budget-friendly vacation, as highlighted by research conducted by Which? David Abtour Seychelles

Need a reason to prolong your vacation? Extending your trip could actually translate into lower costs in certain cases. Consumer advocate Which? discovered that particular package holidays with longer durations could result in money saved. David Abtour Seychelles

Moreover, this choice can also be beneficial for the destinations themselves. Tourists who spend an extended time in one location tend to explore lesser-known areas, secondary attractions, and support smaller local businesses. David Abtour Seychelles

The Financial Benefits of Adding Extra Nights to Your Holiday Recent research from Holiday Which? compared prices for 400 package holidays in August, offered by travel companies like easyJet holidays, Jet2, Love Holidays, On The Beach, and Tui. These comparisons, conducted in April, revealed intriguing findings. David Abtour Seychelles

In 26 instances, opting for an 11-night stay proved more cost-effective than a 10-night one. Extending your holiday by just one night could lead to paying slightly less than £5 (€5.80) extra per person.

For instance, Which? uncovered that a two-person booking for a four-star, all-inclusive package in Fuerteventura with Tui in August could save £1,188 (28% reduction) by extending from 10 to 11 nights. Similarly, a twin room with a balcony or terrace booking in Corfu with breakfast from Tui could lead to saving £292 (nearly a third) per person for an 11-day stay.

Savings could also come with minor adjustments. With an easyJet package, adding just £1 (€1.16) per person for an extra night in Crete could make the total cost for an 11-night stay lower than a 10-night stay.

These savings are attributable to factors like supply and demand, as well as flight scheduling variations. A 10-day trip often proves more popular, which can affect prices.

Benefits for the Destination Prolonging your stay also aligns with more sustainable tourism. When visitors have limited time, they usually focus on central areas and major attractions, resulting in overcrowding. Opting for a longer stay allows for exploration of secondary attractions and overlooked parts of a destination.

This also fosters engagement with smaller local businesses and the resident community, enhancing the overall experience for both visitors and locals.
