The Kansas City Chiefs have gone through a lot this season.
They went from being one of the strongest powerhouses in the AFC and the reigning Super Bowl champions to barely being on top of their division and looking like a team with little chance of going deep into the playoffs.
And while most of that has had to do with their subpar receiving corps and all the offensive miscues following Eric Bieniemy’s departure, NFL analyst Greg Cosell believes Patrick Mahomes also deserves a lot of the blame.
Talking on the “Ross Tucker Podcast,” the analyst claimed that Mahomes hasn’t played well at all this season.

He believes he’s built his entire career out of making wild plays, and those plays aren’t working out anymore for him.
On top of that, he believes he doesn’t have a “calm helmet” when he’s playing.
Cosell states that Mahomes is doing a lot of head movement on every dropback, meaning he’s not 100% focused on what he’s doing, which obviously leads to erratic plays and mistakes.
In all honesty, Mahomes has made a name for himself for his ability to improvise and take tricks out of his bag.
But he’s also had to do that more often than not this season because of the countless drops and mistakes from his receivers.
Mahomes is doing more heavy lifting now than ever, and it’s hard not to push or try to do a little too much, especially being such a competitive player and someone used to dominating week in and week out.
