MINERA PANAMÁ ASPIRES THAT THE NEGOTIATIONS FOR THE RENEWED AGREEMENT CONCLUDE IN A SCENARIO WHERE BOTH SIDES ATTAIN MUTUAL BENEFITS, REFERRED TO AS A “WIN-WIN” DYNAMICS

Today, the official establishment of the negotiation table for the new concession contract of Minera Panamá took place.

Ramon Martinez, the Minister of Commerce and Industry, who leads the negotiating team appointed by the President of the Republic, emphasized that these sessions will address topics related to economic, fiscal, environmental, labor, and social aspects, with the goal of ensuring that the mine’s operation adheres to international standards of best practices.

Martinez warned that if an agreement is not reached on the proposed terms, they will seek negotiations with another company. According to the minister, they will not continue under the “current conditions.”

On its part, Minera Panamá expressed, through a statement, their confidence that this process will be candid, robust, thorough, and transparent for the benefit of the country. Likewise, they hope that the best interests of the State and the rights acquired by the company will be respected, aiming to achieve the best results for Panama.

In this regard, Manuel Aizpurúa, spokesperson and member of the company’s negotiating team, emphasized the importance of the negotiation table being a space of respect for private capital investment and promoting legal certainty, with the aim of achieving a beneficial outcome for all involved parties and for the country.
