Until this season, Baker Mayfield was thought to be a talented quarterback who, for whatever reason, simply couldn’t put it all together.

He showed some scattered brilliance in his first four NFL seasons with the Cleveland Browns, and last season, which was spent with the Carolina Panthers and Los Angeles Rams, was by far his worst.

But in 2023, it looks like he may have found a home with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

While his play was somewhat up and down earlier in the year, he is now on a bit of a heater as his team has won four games in a row.

These stats from NFL GameDay break down his recent hot streak.

On the season, Mayfield has completed 64.3 percent of his pass attempts and thrown for 3,598 yards, 26 touchdowns, and just eight interceptions.

He is on pace to establish new career bests in passing yards, passing touchdowns, and passer rating, but more importantly, his team in is position to finish first in the NFC South.

Tampa Bay blasted the Jacksonville Jaguars, 30-12, in Week 16 to improve to 8-7, putting them one game ahead of the Atlanta Falcons.

In that game, Mayfield completed 74.3 percent of his passes and threw for 283 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions.

In the past, turnovers had been a problem for him, but it seems as if perhaps he has solved that problem, at least for the time being.

Tampa Bay has a big game on Sunday against the New Orleans Saints, who are 7-8, before wrapping up the regular season against the woeful Carolina Panthers, giving Mayfield another opportunity to truly prove that he has figured out how to be a quality NFL QB.
