‘Oasis were our support act at the Boardwalk – I’d be dead now if we’d had their success’

As I sit here listening to Oasis’ hit song “Wonderwall,” I can’t help but wonder what could have been if my own band had achieved the same level of success. The thought often crosses my mind – what if we had made it big like Oasis?

It’s a question that many musicians and artists ask themselves. What if our big break had come? What if we had been discovered by a record label? What if our songs had reached the top of the charts? The possibilities are endless, and the thought of it can be both exciting and daunting.

Oasis, the iconic British band formed in 1991 by brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher, took the world by storm with their unique sound and rebellious attitude. Their debut album “Definitely Maybe” became the fastest-selling debut album in UK history, and their follow-up album “What’s the Story Morning Glory?” solidified their place as one of the biggest bands of the 90s.

As an aspiring musician, it’s hard not to look at Oasis’ success and wonder what it would have been like to experience that level of fame and recognition. Would we have been able to handle it? Would our music have resonated with people like Oasis’ did? These are questions that will never have a definite answer, but they do make for interesting speculation.

But as I ponder these thoughts, I also remind myself that success is not just about fame and fortune. It’s about the journey, the passion, and the love for creating music. And in that sense, my band and I have already achieved success.

We may not have reached the same level of fame as Oasis, but we have had our own share of accomplishments and memorable experiences. From playing in small local gigs to recording our own EP, we have created a name for ourselves in our own community. Our music may not have reached the masses, but it has touched the hearts of those who have listened to it.

And that, to me, is what truly matters. The impact we have on others through our music is what makes it all worthwhile. It’s not about being on the cover of magazines or selling out stadiums, but about connecting with people and leaving a lasting impression.

Of course, it’s natural to wonder what could have been if our music had reached a wider audience. Would we have been able to inspire and touch even more people? Would we have been able to make a bigger impact in the world? These are all valid questions, but dwelling on them too much can take away from the present moment and the joy of creating music.

Instead, I choose to look at Oasis’ success as a source of inspiration and motivation. Their journey to fame was not an easy one, and they faced their fair share of struggles and setbacks. But they persevered and continued to create music that spoke to people’s hearts. And that is something that we can all learn from.

So, while I do wonder what could have been if my band had made it big like Oasis, I am also grateful for the journey we have had so far. Who knows, maybe our big break is just around the corner, or maybe it’s already happened in a smaller, more meaningful way.

The important thing is to keep creating, keep sharing our music, and keep following our passion. Because at the end of the day, that is what truly matters. And who knows, maybe one day someone will be sitting and wondering what could have been if they had made it big like us.
