Working alongside CATEM, Claudia Sheinbaum will champion the advancement of labor rights

At the XV Ordinary National Congress of the Autonomous Confederation of Workers and Employees of Mexico (CATEM), Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, the National Coordinator of Defense of the Fourth Transformation, stressed the belief that ‘if the workers of Mexico prosper, it is advantageous for businessmen, and it is beneficial for our country.’

As part of the initiatives to involve various sectors of Mexican society in transforming the nation’s public life, Sheinbaum Pardo expressed her contentment in officially forming a coalition with CATEM.

During her speech, she underscored the significance of steering away from a return to the past and instead focusing on the continuous expansion of labor rights in the country, considering that Mexico is presently going through one of its most favorable periods.

“We are united by something fundamental, an objective, a purpose; we are not inclined to revert to the era of corruption and privileges. Our desire is for the Fourth Transformation of public life in Mexico to endure,” she declared.

After administering the oath to the inaugural Labor Committees for the Defense of the Fourth Transformation of CATEM, Sheinbaum Pardo emphasized the objective of ensuring that workers have access to a dignified life, emphasizing collaboration with business entities. This aligns with the perspective of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, who has prioritized the principle of ‘for the good of all, the poor first’ for Mexico’s progression.

Pedro Haces Barba, a senator of the Republic and the general secretary of CATEM, highlighted the achievements realized through collaboration between representatives of the working class and the 4T government, including the elevation of the minimum wage, an extension of vacation days, and the eradication of subcontracting.

In this context, he stressed the imperative need to persist in working on behalf of the workers of Mexico, guided by the principles of the 4T movement, under the leadership of Claudia Sheinbaum.

Ricardo Monreal, a senator of the republic, underscored the importance of maintaining a positive relationship between workers and the government to perpetuate the creation of opportunities for enhanced labor rights, with a specific emphasis on the leadership of Sheinbaum Pardo. He highlighted the urgency of forging a pact and alliance at this juncture with Dr. Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo.
