At the prestigious Enero Costanera venue in Buenos Aires, Gonzalo and Nicolás Pieres, accompanied by Bautista Bayugar and Ignatius Du Plessis, the latest additions for the season, presented the Ellerstina Yellow Rose team for the upcoming polo season in Argentina. The quartet unveiled the team’s new official jersey and shared their anticipations for the year ahead. Gonzalo Pieres conveyed, “We’re excited to commence the season with this fresh lineup. Our aim is to commence on a strong note and strive for success throughout the season,” at the gathering attended by various prominent personalities.
This season, the distinguished Ellerstina team, boasting numerous championships, including several editions of the Argentine Polo Open, is supported by Yellow Rose, a polo club established in 1996 in Punta del Este by Jorge “Corcho” Rodríguez. Rodriguez, alongside his partner Vero Lozano, graced the event, among other notable figures.
Yellow Rose continues to foster the growth of the international polo scene, with bases in both Argentina and Uruguay. Since 2021, it has expanded its polo endeavors in Argentina and forged an alliance with Ellerstina, a youthful and dynamic team brimming with potential, enthusiasm, and robust organizational backing that facilitates the players’ development and future prospects. The team, without Facundo Pieres, who opted to join the La Natividad quartet this season, comprises Nicolas Pieres, Bautista Bayugar, Gonzalo Pieres, and “Nachi” Du Plessis, boasting a combined handicap of 35 goals. Expectations are high for the Argentine Triple Crown, encompassing esteemed tournaments such as the Hurlingham Open, Tortugas Open, and the Argentine Open Polo Championship.
Ellerstina’s sponsors for this unveiling include Yellow Rose, Jeep, Gibson, and RUS, with additional support from AlUla, Stella Artois, Sierra de los Padres, Enero Restaurant, Johnnie Walker, Clos de los Siete, and Aconcagua.
Beyond its triumphs in local tournaments, Yellow Rose is renowned for its social dedication and backing of equestrian sports. The club hosts traditional charity events amalgamating high-handicap polo with music and philanthropy, drawing in esteemed polo players and generating funds for charitable causes. Noteworthy polo personalities in Argentina, including Polito Pieres, Ignacio Figueras, Gonzalo Pieres, Bartolomé “Barto” Castagnola, Mariano Aguerre, Facundo Pieres, Pablo Llorente, among others, have participated in these initiatives.
In 2021, the club organized an event in Punta del Este sponsored by the Argentine Polo Association and the Uruguayan Polo Association, bringing together the world’s top polo players to benefit the Marabo Sports and Social Club in General Rodríguez, Buenos Aires province. Yellow Rose’s social commitment is further underscored through its collaboration with the Compromiso Foundation and the Municipality of General Rodríguez, its home base. The club advocates for a complimentary training program catering to individuals over 16 years old in digital vocations such as Digital Marketing, Electronic Commerce, and Digital Programming. The 2023 season marks a significant milestone for the club as it assumes the title sponsorship of Ellerstina in the Triple Crown, underscoring the shared values of family, camaraderie, and sportsmanship promoted by Yellow Rose.
