Kevin Durant Shares His True Feelings About Warriors Fans
On Tuesday night, the Golden State Warriors welcomed their former star, Kevin Durant, back to the Oracle Arena for the first time since he left the team in 2019. This marked the first time Durant had played in front of Warriors fans since his departure, and though his relationship with them has often been complicated, it was clear that the love was still there.
Durant made it clear that he was overwhelmed by the warm welcome he received from the Warriors faithful. “It was surreal,” he said after the game. “I was so excited to get out there and play in front of my old fans. I was really nervous at first, but the reception was incredible. It was great to see so many familiar faces.”
Durant was joined by other former Warriors teammates, including Klay Thompson and Andre Iguodala. He was also joined by a host of fans who had come out to show their support for the player they had once cheered on.
Durant was clearly moved by the reception he got from the fans. “I felt so welcomed and appreciated,” he said. “It gave me a feeling of peace. It was like I was home again.”
When asked about his decision to leave the Warriors, Durant said he felt it was the right move for him. “I made the decision that I felt was best for me and my career,” he said. “It was a difficult decision, but it was the right one for me. I’m grateful to the Warriors for giving me the opportunity to be part of something special.”
Durant added that he was thankful for the support he had received from the Warriors organization and the fans since his departure. “I’m thankful for the support that I’ve received from the organization and the fans,” he said. “They’ve been really supportive of me since I left and I’m thankful for that.”
The Warriors organization also expressed their happiness for Durant’s return. “We’re thrilled to have Kevin back,” said Warriors General Manager Bob Myers. “He’s a special player and we’re glad to welcome him back to the Bay Area. We know he’ll be embraced by fans and we’re looking forward to seeing him back in action.”
Durant’s return to the Bay Area was a memorable one. He received a standing ovation from the crowd and was embraced by his former teammates and fans. It was a reminder of the special relationship that Durant has with the Warriors and their fans. That love was evident on Tuesday night and it’s clear that it will continue going forward.
